If you look at the other tier 1 deck in this meta, its entirely designed around levelling up 2 champs. He's kinda similar to how teemo used to be run in burn decks with no other mushroom synergy.Īnyway my point is, I dont think how often they level up is particularly related to whether they are fair/balanced/well-designed. Ziggs is a bit more of a sad example, as he unfortunately makes sense as a pure value unit in burn decks, and decks built around his synergy package are less competitive than pure burn (though taliyah-ziggs is solid and not to be slept on,I would be more worried if his intended deck didn't work at all). Again though he is an example of a champ where the level up is more of a bonus and the level 1 is the main event, kinda like heimer (similar example, but much less competitve). Zed I dont think is a good example, he levels up pretty often, and tbh whether he levels up is kinda dictated by your opponent and how they choose to block. Poppy in particular seems designed to be very powerful at level 1, and then broken at level 2, but the level 2 is very unlikely to happen consistently. Not all champs are designed to level up every game. I'm not saying their level 1 should be weak, but when they perform better at level 1 than any other champion at level 2. This reminds me of release Trundle being played in nearly every Freljord deck just because his stats + Regen made him almost impossible to kill, even if the rest of the deck had no synergy with him. Zed is a little excusable since his level up depends on the opponent choosing not to block him. Poppy just ends games too early to level up or she suicides herself because getting one or two attacks with her and a couple allies is enough value to win most games even if she dies. Seriously - isn't it just ridiculous that these champions are strong enough to dominate the meta with only their level 1 power? Ziggs is played just for the sake of his stats and guaranteed burn - his most played decks actually cannot level him up unless they manifest Bomber Twins.
